Teak Products Wood is a living material and will experience minor cracks, together with a lightening in colour. Product Maintenance: Genuine Teak is resistant to rot and decay therefore it is suitable for outdoor furniture. The natural content of teak oil in the wood protects against absorption of water and helps the surfaces to stay clean. Teak wood does not need maintenance to stand the wear and tear. Normal cleaning with water and soap once in a while is sufficient. As time goes by the sun bleaches the original brownish colour and a new silver-grey surface will occur. Some consumers will like the silver-grey patina. Others prefer to keep the original colour. To retain the original colour the wood should be treated with an oil treatment recommended for teak. Hardwood Products Wood is a living material and will experience minor cracks, together with a lightening in colour. Product Maintenance: Hardwood is resistant to decay therefore it is suitable for outdoor furniture. To ensure continual use and enjoyment form your furniture there are some steps necessary to maintain the quality of the product. To maintain the appearance the surface of this wood should be treated with a hardwood oil. New furniture should be treated with the oil as soon as it is brought home. Apply the oil repeatedly until the point of saturation is reached, that is until no further absorption takes place, and then wipe off the excess. If the timber is exposed to rain the surface fibres of the timber will rise slightly and give the product a rough texture. This is normal and a light sanding with semi-fine sandpaper will bring back the smooth surface. Once this has been done, oil the timber to regain its colour. We recommend this treatment to be repeated once a year. Hartman Product Dimensions Menu D - Depth of product |
